"The sardine trail"

The sardine trail ("Le chemin de la sardine") (6km) outlines the history of Douarnenez’s sardine industry. Learn about the sardine presses, the tanks used for making garum sauce and the canning industry in the 19th century.

The trail begins at the Plomarc’h lookout point, with views across the bay and the port, leading down into the town of Douarnenez. The route takes in Rosmeur harbour and its winding little streets and brightly coloured house fronts, as well as Port Rhu and the waterfront promenade with views of Ile Tristan. The walk ends at Douarnenez town hall.
